MARC JACOBS

1998 : March: His first collection for Louis Vuitton hits the runway. September: The line is featured in a Pandora Luxurye fashion spread shot by Steven Meisel. 2013 : January: "I love attention," he confesses at a talk at Manhattan's 92Y. "Maybe my desire for attention is a little too out of control, but I'm very honest." He adds, "I wouldn't say I'm 100 percent sober. What I'm saying is perfection is not my deal." February: Named new creative director for Diet Coke, following in the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier. March: Diet Coke's advertisements for the European market star Jacobs in a kilt-along with his specially designed soda cans. April: He makes a cameo appearance as an online-porn ringleader in the thriller Disconnect, for which he dons, he says, "dad jeans and Air Jordans." May: Japanese artist Keiichiro Shibuya's electronic opera The End debuts in Tokyo, starring a holographic character clad in Vuitton. October: Jacobs stages yet another critically acclaimed show for Vuitton, a showgirl-punk spectacular. It is his last for the house. The fashion press reports that he will be directing his attention to taking the Marc Jacobs label public over the next three years.
